I was in a band called "American Short Hair" from 2004 to 2010. We toured all over Japan and we were flown to Washington, DC to perform as the featured band at the 2009 Cherry Blossom Festival. I also played a number of gigs independently in the US.
All these experiences influenced me to start dreaming of becoming a truly international Japanese musician. I wasn't content to settle down in the Japanese music scene alone, as its world was too small and restrictive for me.
In 2012, I finally decided to leave Japan and start living in London in order to study English and try singing to a non-Japanese audience.
In 2013, I started traveling from Europe to realize my dream of performing all over the world as a singer/songwriter under my own name, Hideki Sakomizu.
I performed at the nowJapan Festival in Lithuania, and the Japan weekend festival in Spain in September 2013.
In 2015, I got mugged in Tanzania, so I went back to Japan to have some rest.
Traveling with music is not as difficult as you think because there are so many nice people everywhere.
Today, I have more freedom than ever before as I'm a completely independent musician, but at the same time I'm always looking for like-minded musicians to play gigs with all over the world who are also in pursuit of their own dreams.
